Kibra MP Ken Okoth: My stage 4 cancer has no cure

Kibra MP Ken Okoth has openly come out to speak about his battle with cancer, he has full of courage and confidence that he will stand out.

While speaking on Saturday, the 41-year-old legislator said he was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer after several hospital visits.

Okoth revealed that he has been on treatment for ulcers and bacterial infections for about a year, while taking drugs to manage stress and anxiety.

Okoth who is a ODM party MP said he experienced alot of suffering where he had abdominal pains and loss of weight.

The Second term legislator said upon visiting  hospital for further checkup, the doctors revealed he had stage four cancer, which caught his family by suprise.

“The fear of the unknown that accompanies a cancer diagnosis is immense. Cancer changes your life completely,” stated Okoth.

He explained how he started his treatment in 2018,Which involved combined radio and chemotherapy inorder to prevent the risk of organ failure.

He further explained  that since his cancer was discovered at a very advanced stage, it can only be managed and not cured.

The MP said he had been traveling to Europe for medications since Kenya has very few facilities that care for advanced cancer.

Mr. Okoth has called upon government to scrap the taxes on cancer drugs and equipment like computerized tomography (CT) scans so that Kenyans don’t have to seek treatment abroad.
