I was heckled by hired goons at BBI launch, Murkomen now says

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen now claims his distractors hired goons to disrupt his speech during the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative taskforce report at the Bomas of Kenya.

Taking to his official Facebook handle, Murkomen who doubles up as the Senate Majority Leader accused the event organizers of having a parochial interest.

" In future a national function of today's magnitude must have a master of ceremony who is not partisan player with parochial interest."

He further urged the Ministry of Interior to invite people " with decorum, behaviour and attitude befitting a state function and reflects Kenya Mpya. Not hired and programmed hecklers and goons who reflects the bad image we are trying to overcome."

Murkomen was on Wednesday heckled after he questioned the event MC Hon Junet Mohammed of sidelining Tanga Tanga team legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

It took the intervention of the BBI taskforce chair Senator Yusuf Haji to calm down the crowd that had subdued Murkomen in jeers.

However, it's not only senator Murkomen who was heckled by the crowd that was made up of elected and nominated leaders, but also Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who was also treated to unfavourable welcome with chants of " Sit down, No cartels here. This is BBI launch "

Attempts by the governor to reprimand the event organizers for disrespecting him in spite of being the host leader was hacked by cheers and jeers.

" You refused to call me to speak, yet i am the elected governor of Nairobi, where this event is being held, " shouted Sonko
