CDF issues bursary funds worth Sh37million in Mavoko

The Mavoko Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has disbursed cheques worth Sh37 million for bursary fund meant for needy secondary, college and university students in the constituency.

Speaking during the disbursement at the Athi River Town CDF offices, area Member of Parliament Patrick Makau said the move was expected to help promote secondary education in the region by ensuring a 100 per cent transition to secondary schools.

“Today we are distributing Sh37million bursaries from CDF to needy students in all the Wards,” said Makau during the event that was attended by beneficiaries and other members of the public.

Makau pointed out that the funds were meant to ensure that all bright students from needy families were able to access education as their fundamental right in the Constitution of Kenya.

He reiterated that the fund had been fairly distributed in all wards in the sub-county depending on levels of need in each ward.

"The fund has been fairly distributed to orphans and vulnerable students in all wards within Mavoko depending on numbers of the children and levels of need in each ward," said Makau.

The Legislator pointed out that his office is committed to ensuring that all students in the constituency were able to receive education all the way from primary school, secondary school to tertiary institutions.

He further issued a stern warning to parents who deny their children the right to education where he called on all education stakeholders in the sub-county to remain vigilant and report any parents or caregivers who deny children their right to education.
