Fire reduces property worth millions of shillings to ashes

Property worth millions of shillings was today lost when fire razed down business premises at Kapsoit trading center in Kericho County.

The fire that started at around 5.00 am gutted down over 10 rental dwelling units, a section of Kapsoit petrol station hotel, a welding workshop and a butchery.

 Mr. William Sang who witnessed the incident told KNA in Kericho that the fire is suspected to have started from the hotel at around 5 am and quickly spread to the adjacent rental units.

He said that the inferno was only contained after one hour when the fire fighting engine arrived at the scene.

Sang said that no casualties were reported from the fire tragedy.

Cases of fires in Kericho are on the rise with most occurring in schools and shopping center. The latest incident that happened was the burning down of a dormitory of Chepwagan secondary school in Bureti and the fire incident that razed down an hotel in Litein town in Bureti recently where property worth thousands of shillings was lost.
