19-year- old student test positive of Coronavirus in Kakamega

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya on Thursday  confirmed a case of coronavirus in the county.

While addressing the media at the county headquarters the Governor noted that the patient who is a 19-year-old male student jetted back to the country from London .

The students hails from Mumias West Sub County.

The County boss also said the boda boda rider who carried the student when he arrived at  county has been quarantined at the Kakamega County Referral Hospital.

He also revealed that that student’s family members are in self-quarantine and are being monitored by  doctors.

He also noted that a Member of County Assembly is also among four people who have been directed to self quarantine after they were suspected to have been exposed to the virus.

Oparanya further ordered County Government offices to close its operations with immediate effect for a period of 15 days as a way of  containing the spread of the Corona virus in the Country.

The Governor said on that  the Department of  Health Services, Security & Enforcement, Water & Sanitation, Cleaning & Garbage collection and Finance and Revenue will be exempted from the closure.
