COVID -19: Museveni bans public transport

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni has suspended the use of public transport to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The directive which takes effect immediately will last for 14 days and will affect all buses, commuter trains, taxis' and bodaboda.

Museveni issued  the directive in a national address following confirmation of five new cases bringing the  total confirmed cases in Uganda to 14.

" All public means of transport have been suspended for 14 days. This includes taxi, buses, trains and bodaboda, " said Museveni.

Only private vehicles carrying 3 passengers  will be allowed to operate.


The Ugandan Head of State further ordered for the closure of all markets trading in  non-food item.
