Kenya's COVID-19 cases jump to 1,161 after 52 more test positive

52 Kenyans have tested positive for coronavirus, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The new cases are from 2567 samples tested in the last 24 hours and brings the national tally of confirmed cases to 1,161.

The 52 cases are distributed as follows; Nairobi (23)Mombasa(7) Busia(7)Kwale(5) Kajiado (4)Nakuru(2) Kiambu(1) Taita Taveta (1) Kilifi (1) and Transnzoia (1).

One person who has been in mandatory quarantine also tested positive.

At the same time, 5 patients have been discharged from various isolation centres bringing to 380 the total number of recoveries.

Kenya has so far tested 55,074 people since pandemic was first reported in the country.
