8-month-old baby among 259 new COVID-19 cases in Kenya

An eight months old baby is among 259 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus cases in Kenya this now brings the total number of confirmed cases to 6,070.

Addressing the press at Afya House on Sunday, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Mercy Mwangangi said the new cases were from 2,718 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases include 256 Kenyans and 3 foreigners composed of 159 males and 100 females all aged between 8 months and 92 years old.

The cases are distributed as follows; Nairobi (127) Mombasa ( 39) Kiambu (22) Machakos( 16) Busia (11) Makueni (9) Nakuru(9) Uasin Gishu(9) Kilifi (5) Kajiado(3) Kisumu(2) Lamu(2) Marsabit(2) and Kwale(1).

Dr Mwangangi also announced that 35 patients were discharged hence raising the tally of recoveries to 1,970.

Two more patients, however, succumbed to the disease this now brings to 143 the total number of fatalities.
