Narok Senator Charged with ethnic contempt

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has been released on Ksh 100,000 cash bail after he pleaded not guilty to charges of ethnic contempt.


The Senator had appeared before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku who dismissed his application challenging the charge sheet.


The magistrate ruled that the  senator's application  lacked merit.


Senator Ledama was charged with ethnic contempt and had pleaded not guilty of uttering words which were intended  to incite the feeling of discrimination against non- Maasai living in Narok County.


The court further ordered the senator to restrain from commenting about  the case on social media or any other forum  until the matter is heard and determined


The case is set to be mentioned on July 30.
