Two Kabarak Guest House staff test positive for coronavirus

Two staff members at Kabarak guest house in Nakuru have tested positive for COVID-19 and over 80 contacts quarantined.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha who had arrived for the Kenya Institue of Curriculum Development seminar that was to kick off today said they will remain in quarantine for 14 days.

"We were to vet grade 5 books at Kabarak, but we were told two people at the guest house had tested positive and 80 people are now in quarantine, " he said.

The CS said the officials attending the seminar were also expected to assess the readiness for the possible opening of schools in September.

An official at the facility told a local news outlet that they have been conducting a routine test on a regular basis and the two positive cases are from samples collected on June 25, 2020.
