Gov't: Travellers from Tanzania will not be turned away

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has said Tanzanians arriving in country will not be turned away even though Tanzania wasn't cleared for air travel to Kenya.

Addressing the press at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) hours after the Tanzanian government announced that Kenya Airways flights are banned until further notice, CS Macharia said the government had resolved the impasse.

" Travellers from Tanzania can come in as early as Today. We never stopped those flights. This very minor issue has been sorted out and we believe we shall find  KQ flying again to Tanzania, " he said.

According to the CS, the safe flight's list issued on Friday doesn't mean that those countries  not mentioned are banned from operating flights to Kenya.

" It would be inappropriate to start discussing individual states because we have a total of 180 countries but so far only 19 have been listed as having their travellers exempted from quarantine, " the CS said.

Among countries cleared for operations in the country include China, Uganda, Morocco, France, UK, Namibia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Switzerland, Japan  and South Korea.
