Kenya records 690 new coronavirus cases as tally surpass 22,000 mark

690 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kenya pushing the national tally to 22,053.

The latest cases are from 5,393 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

681 of the new cases are Kenyans while 9 are foreign nationals aged between 6 months and 83 years old.

The cases comprise of 492 males and 198 females.

The cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi 535, Kiambu 56, Kajiado 28, Nyeri 24, Busia 9, Machakos 7, Kisumu and Nakuru 6 cases each, Garissa and Embu 4 cases each, Narok and Laikipia 3 cases each while Bungoma, Mombasa, Nyandarua, Kwale and  Meru have one case each.

At the same time, the country also recorded 58 recoveries pushing the total number of recoveries to 8,477.

Five more patients however succumbed to the virus rising to 369 the death toll.
