Ojaamong meets Teso South professionals to discuss development

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong on Thursday met a section of Teso South professionals to chart a way forward for the constituency’s development agenda.

Ojaamong who hails from the constituency and the professionals under the umbrella Teso South Development Forum sought ways of accelerating development and spurring socio-economic growth.

Forum chairman, Moffat Okisai, delivered a memorandum touching on various thematic areas they want addressed by the county administration, at the governor’s home in Okilidu.

Addressing the press thereafter, Okisai appreciated their interaction and hoped the constituency will benefit from it.

"The Governor’s residence is domiciled in Teso South and we must lead by example in matters education, infrastructure, health, water and many other sectors,” he stated.

He said they also discussed issues of empowering the community, improving roads, health facilities and the learning institutions.

“Besides, we wanted also to find out how we can address the Covid-19 pandemic because Teso South is also among the most vulnerable constituencies in Busia,” he added.

The Governor said the forum is justified in engaging the county leadership by raising issues that affect the community like poor roads, unemployment, water scarcity, and electricity.

"The discussions are healthy as we receive opinions from varied people for the benefit of constituents. We shall keep on engaging since it's their constitutional right, so that we have a common agenda that focuses on programs that benefit the whole community,” he stated.

The forum formed a 10-member committee chaired by Collins Wandera to spearhead the entire process of engaging the County government in future.

Other committee members include James Okomol (secretary), Chris Odwali, Emusugut Esamai, Jude Otogo, Peter Oteba, Sherry Ing'ura, Jacklyne Okiring, Robert and Moffat Okisai.
