The Kenyan Senate has suspended physical meeting for a month to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus

Speaker Kenneth Lusaka said the decision was informed by fears of legislators and staffers contracting the virus.

" We had a liaison committee meeting which all the chairperson of committees and agreed that all meetings should be virtual, " Lusaka was quoted by The Standard

The move comes just a day after the country confirmed 727 new COVID-19 cases pushing the total number of confirmed cases in Kenya to 21,636.

Out of the 727, 696 were Kenyans while 31 were foreign nationals; 465 males and 262 females.
