MP Alice Wahome wants NMS boss barred from attending Cabinet meetings

Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome has moved to court seeking orders barring Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director-General Major General Mohammed Abdalla Badi from attending Cabinet meetings.

Last week, State House announced that the NMS boss would be attending Cabinet meetings after he took the oath of secrecy in a ceremony witnessed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In her petition to the court on Tuesday, the Kandara lawmaker argues that Badi participation in the Cabinet meetings is " illegal and void,  "

" The 3rd respondent ( Badi) has not been appointed to the Cabinet as provided in the constitution, " read the petition.

Wahome cites Article 152(1)of the constitution which stipulates that the Cabinet consists of the President, Deputy President, Attorney General and Cabinet Secretaries

The MP cited the AG, Secretary to the Cabinet and NMS boss Badi as the first, second and third respondents respectively.

In the petition, the MP accused the Secretary to the Cabinet for violating the Constitution by allowing a 'stranger' in the cabinet.
