Ngilu wades into Ruto-Kalonzo land grabbing spat

KNA      Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has come out to defend Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka against land-grabbing allegations by Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking on Tuesday when she toured the Kitui Youth Enterprise Centre (KIYOSEC) at Manyenyoni in Kitui Central, Ngilu said DP Ruto's attack on Kalonzo was ill-advised given his (Ruto's) graft culpability.

"Ruto's claims that Kalonzo grabbed public land are untrue and baseless," said Ngilu.

She recalled the Langata primary school incident in which police teargassed protesting pupils saying that "Ruto had grabbed their playground and planned to use it to expand his Weston Hotel."

"I do pray and hope that Ruto will never be in a position where he can do that kind of a thing again," added the county boss.

She also attacked Ruto's hustler movement saying that wheelbarrows were not an answer to problems facing the youth in this country.

Mr. Musyoka and DP Ruto have over the last few days exchanged barbs in the full glare of the nation accusing each other of grabbing public land besides other corrupt practices.

Trouble started last Friday when Ruto claimed that Kalonzo illegally acquired 200 acres of land belonging to the National Youth Service in Yatta, Machakos County.

But the Wiper leader on Monday hit back at the Deputy President and accused him of all manner of ills and demanded that the DP subjects himself to a lifestyle audit.
