15,000 residents in Nyamira to benefit from Universal Health Coverage

KNA        Over 15,000 vulnerable residents in Nyamira are set to benefit from a Sh. 92 million Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme.           

 
Launching the programme in Nyamira headquarters Wednesday, Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo confirmed that the first phase of this programme will see 15,000 households who represent 20 per cent of the targeted county beneficiaries benefiting. 

 


“The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has partnered with the County of Nyamira to implement a Sh. 92 million UHC  programme in a bid to assist our residents from poor backgrounds who are highly vulnerable access free health care services from any facility within our county which is accredited by NHIF,” the Governor said. 

 

He said the county health department has already selected and dispatched a team which will collaborate with ward and location administrators to identify the needy and deserving residents from various households in our County mostly comprising of orphans, people living with disabilities, elderly people and other needy persons to be enrolled in the programme. 


“We shall display names of beneficiaries in all public noticeboards for public scrutiny so that any undeserving name that has been sneaked in the list is expunged with immediate effect all in a bid to ensure that most deserving people are given priority the more reason why we are appealing to the team mandated with selecting beneficiaries to ensure they execute their duty with high level of integrity and transparency.” Stated Nyaribo.             


UHC was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta three years ago to accommodate the poor families in accessing healthcare services free of charge across the country as one of His Big Four agenda projects of Universal Health Coverage.
